African Mango Diet

What's all the fuss about the African mango diet? Before the African mango, the multi-billion dollar industry of weight loss products had its fill of the acai and goji berries and pomegranate. The African Mango is what you would consider to be the newest kid on the weight loss block with the uncanny ability to help you lose fat and lower the fat levels in your blood while it is at it. To get to these benefits, one would have to reach the protein-rich seeds of the African mango.

From there, extracts may be derived to provide the necessary ingredients needed in creating the breakthrough supplement that everyone is interested in these days. Those who fancy Cameroonian cooking may be one healthy group because the African mango seed is a staple in Cameroonian dishes. African Mango supplements may have been doing well on their own promoting their benefits but they got a real helping hand when Oprah's very own Dr Oz gave the go signal that African mango capsules are indeed effective in helping you lose weight.

Dr Oz's Emmy-winning show had a segment about the little miracles you can find in your medicine cabinet and Dr Tanya Edwards from the show was tasked with trying out the African mango capsules. She writes on the Dr Oz site that at first she thought that African mango was a magic bullet. But when she tried it herself, she was surprised that in the first month alone, she was able to lose seven pounds without doing anything different in her regular routine. Granting she was already eating healthy and was doing exercise regularly, she didn't even take the recommended two doses everyday--she only did one--so it was saying something since she got good results just the same. After that, Dr Edwards has been recommending African mango supplements to her patients herself. And in no time, the African mango became a sensation, with various supplement retailers mushrooming all over the internet to cater to the demand. What does FoxNews.com's medicine hunter, Chris Khilam, have to say about the African mango diet? He believes it's here with a vengeance. Just search for available African mango supplements and you'll be directed to hundreds of sites in the US alone selling the little magic bottles about $40 each.

But is there truth to what the African mango diet claims to do?

African Mango ( Irvingia Gabonensis ) has long been used by tribesmen during their long hunting trips to suppress their appetite and ward off hunger. Clinical studies have also shown that African Mango is also an excellent source of fiber so it is highly effective in lowering cholesterol and flushing harmful toxins out of your body. Since overweight individuals have extremely high levels of leptin in their blood, their cells develop a resistance to the hormone so their body finds it hard to know when they have already had enough to eat.

Several studies have also revealed other benefits associated with African Mango. A study conducted by Lipids & Health Disease found out that subjects who took the extract were able to lose an average of 12.3 pounds in as early as 28 days. Although it does not contain harmful stimulants, it can still increase your metabolism and boost weight loss by up to 800%. Individuals who took Irvingia Gabonensis also experienced a 39% reduction in their cholesterol levels. When it is added to a healthy diet and regular exercise regime, it can help you lose weight and burn fat faster.

African Mango stands out from other weight loss supplements because of the amazing benefits that it brings. In clinical studies, it was found that Irvingia can suppress the appetite by delaying the stomach from emptying. It also improves weight loss by burning fat faster and boosting your metabolism. Aside from these effects, it also controls the amount of leptin in your bloodstream. By increasing the production of leptin in your body, it can trick your brain into believing that you are already full even if you have only consumed small portions of your usual meals.

African Mango is not only effective when it comes to helping people lose weight. While no studies have proven that African Mango contains detoxifying properties, its ability to help you lose weight along with the toxic fat from your body serves as a great way to start the detox process. Irvingia can also lower bad LDL cholesterol levels while increasing good HDL cholesterol levels at the same time. It removes cholesterol from the body by binding to bile acids and reducing cholesterol levels as well as other blood lipids.

There are two studies done by Judith L. Ngondi and her colleagues at Cameroon's University of Yaounde published by the Journal of Lipids in Health supporting the hype behind the African mango diet with data showing that the protein-rich seeds of the fruit do promote significant weight loss and improvements in fat levels in blood.

One of the studies was done in 2005. The research team had 28 volunteers, with one group taking placebo and the other taking African mango supplements. The study compared four weeks of weight loss progress between the two groups and results yielded that the African mango group lose 5.3% of body weight compared to the 1.3% from the control group. At the same time, bad cholesterol levels declined by 45.6% while good cholesterol levels shot up by 46.9%, according to the study.

The next study was done in 2009 and was able to administer better extracts from the African mango to part of 102 individuals over a span of 10 weeks. Results showed that the group taking African mango supplements lost more of their weight, had lower blood pressure, and better blood fat and sugar levels.

Health experts would still rather promote making healthier lifestyle choices in order for you to lose weight compared to throwing all of your hopes and dreams on the African mango diet. It's true that taking weight loss supplements can indeed help you drop those extra pounds but eventually you have to learn how to keep them off  anyway so might as well stick to a healthier lifestyle at the same time that you dose yourself with weight loss supplements. Be patient. Losing weight fast is good but there is such a thing as too fast. Besides, you didn't gain all that weight overnight so you can't expect the extra pounds to drop just like that.

When starting with the African mango diet, always take everything you read with a grain of salt because you just never know when you're staring at the tail-end of an amazing marketing campaign. That's not to say that an amazing marketing campaign always translates to a crappy product. Completely not true because there are a lot of great weight loss products out there that are blessed to have great marketing. Rather, what you have to keep in mind is that things might be rosier than they actually are. And even when the best weight loss product has been proven to be the best by hundreds of people, you will only really truly consider it to be the best after you have tried it for yourself. So try the African mango diet to see for yourself the kind of effects it can have on your weight loss efforts. Don't forget to supplement the supplement with healthier eating options and a regular exercise routine for best results.
